Get alerts from your Facebook Pages

January 27, 2011 by Raul Colon

Just as they advertise on there page HyperAlerts is the feature facebook forgot. Thanks to our friend @julito77 I was able to sign up to this service so I can get alerts periodically when someone does post something on the Multiple Facebook Pages I manage.

This feature is something that cuts down the time from when someone posts something on the Facebook page to the administrator responding.

Before I would use a dashboard in hootsuite that gave me the opportunity to look at multiple accounts at once but it was still a manual process.

Feel free to sign up for the beta version.

What other features would facilitate the monitoring and use of your facebook page?

5 Benefits of a LinkedIn Company Profile

January 11, 2011 by Raul Colon

Does your company have a LinkedIn company profile?

Just yesterday we established our company profile going in line with launching our new and refreshing image.

Linkedin Profile

I have been a LinkedIn user since 2005  and when I registered CIMA IT Solutions I quickly saw benefits of having a Company LinkedIn Profile.

1. Accessibility

The company profile is accessible from each company employee’s individual profile.

Meaning that every employee each company has on LinkedIn increases the reach and brand recognition for that company.

Linkedin Profile

2. Job Board

Each company profile has an area to post careers and/or jobs.

Instead of a company using a job board they can directly post on LinkedIn which increases significantly the probability of finding possible candidates interested in your company.

3. Validating actual employees

Many recruiters and companies take LinkedIn as a reliable source. Every company (and individual) should keep an eye out on people posting relationships with them online.

The profile allows employees with your companies domain email to sign up. I am not sure how it works when the employee leaves but at least there is a filter for an employee to sign up.

Other features include:

  • Employee Directory
  • Communication of organizational changes such as promotions.

4. One More Channel to promote your business and create relationships.

Having a company profile in LinkedIn also acts as a beacon for possible leads and opportunities.

This can also serve as a main place to promote your services and products.

The profile also allows you to include key company statistics and a quick overview of your company.

5. Conversations

Each profile also allows you to link a twitter account so Twitter conversations are posted on the profile. This can increase the amount of conversations and followers on twitter by cross-polinating contacts from LinkedIn to twitter.

How to Define a Hashtag!

December 2, 2010 by Raul Colon

Twitter Hashtag used to fuel a Party!

Continuing my previous post on the use of Hashtags I will go a bit more into detail into figuring out what a Hashtag is used for and there meanings.
On many ocassions your are browsign thru Twitter and you identify a hashtag which you might not be familiar with. This happens to me on many ocassions. If it comes from a source I trust I normally either ask them to explain wha t hte hashtag is used for or I try to find out for myself. There are various sites which might help you identify the hashtags meaning and provide you more detailed information on the Hashtag.
I have identified the 4 that I know of (if you have identified other Tools or sites which do a better job than the ones I have included feel more than free to include them in the comments area.
This Post is also available in Spanish

What the Trend – Very complete it has the following areas:

Hassle Free Embedding of Tweets in Your Blog or Website

May 5, 2010 by Raul Colon

Twitter MediaPrototype with Many Advantages for your Blog or Website

Every time I create a blog post for the Blogs I participate in (Twitpuerto.com & Noveltica.com) it involves a tedious process of creating an image of the tweet, uploading the image, and then creating a link towards that tweet so others can reference it.

Yesterday while browsing on the web I found this new twitter tool called Blackbird Pie. This tool allows bloggers or website administrators to embed a tweet into their blog posts or articles.

The advantage is that the tweet keeps most of its functionality since the reader will be able to view the user’s profile, picture, click on links within the tweet, and even view hashtags.

Blackbird Pie was developed by Twitter employee Robin Sloan @robinsloan and is available on the company’s media site.

In order to embed tweets into their sites or blogs:

1. Users need to input a tweet’s link into Blackbird Pie.

2. The service creates a line of code that can be embedded into a site.

Twitter was very clear that Blackbird Pie is not a new feature and it’s still a prototype with some usability issues.

I had one usability issue when bringing the code to my twitpuerto.com site since it displayed some unwanted text.

Removing the part of the code that was not working was a lot easier than doing the full manual process.

Although Blackbird Pie is being modified improved I think it is a huge improvement from going through the previous manual process I explained.

UPDATE: There is also a Blackbird WordPress Plugin for those of you who run your blogs in WordPress.

Example of how a Tweet Will Look:

Other External Posts and Articles:

  • Fresh-baked tweets for your posts (Twitter Media | May 4, 2010)
  • Embedding tweets in blog posts (Los Angeles Times | May 5, 2010)

Can you name any other advantages or improvements to this tool?
